Science is dynamic body of knowledge based on inquiry, logic, reasoning, experimentation et al. To design learning experiences for children, many different types of activities can be undertaken e.g. Project work, Cross word Puzzles, Exhibitions, Field trips, Journals, Creative writings.
Project work are specific scientific tasks/designed to identify problems, address them, research, collect information and come up with solutions. Projects help in learning fundamental principles, Information collection, Data handling, Knowledge construction.
Students may be inspired to take up projects on various problems and to come with various solutions. To start with, say e.g. Models on clean drinking water, a filtration unit or Something addressing Global warming, May be a nursery of plants for aforestration, or a traditional air cooler or refrigrator using ice and clay pots to reduce carbon generation. The students of higher classes may take projects on anti microbial properties of herbs, shrubs found in their native areas or Covid19 data analysis. Students can also take projects using new technological aids, Innovations e.g use of biosensors, Rfid chips, Electronic devices to find solutions to localized day to day problems.
The Govt has come with various programmes to facilitate Project work in schools e.g Inspire awards MANAK conducted every year, Where Competitions are held at district level, State level and national level to facilitate children with aspirations and imaginations.
