Force and Pressure, Class 8th Notes

THESE NOTES ARE PREPARED ACCORDING TO JKBOSE SYLLABI IN SIMPLIFIED AND CONCISE  PATTERN

Q.1: Give to examples each of Push or Pull in which you change the state of motion of object.

Ans:
Push
1.We push the car to move it.
2.We push the heavy box to move it.
Pull
1. We Pull the bucket out of well to get water.
2. We pull the rope in tug of war.

Q.2: Give two examples in which applied force causes change in shape of object.

Ans: When a rubber band is stretched, the force applied changes its shape.

When we press the dough with hands, it changes its shape.

Q.3: FILL IN THE BLANKS

a. PULL          b.ATTRACTS
c.   PUSH       d. ATTRACTS

Q.4: An archer stretches her bow and takes aim at target. Then she releases arrow which moves towards target. Answer the following

A. To stretch bow, the archer applies force which changes
Ans:  Shape

B. The force applied by archerr on bow is an example of......

Ans. Contact force

C. The type of force responsible for change in state of motion of arrow is .............

Ans: Muscular force

D. While arrow moves towards its target, the force acting on it is due to .......... and .......... of air.

Ans:  Gravity , Friction

Q.5 In following situations which is the agent of force and which is object on which force is applied.

A. Squeezing piece of Lemon to extract juice.

Ans: Agent: Hand, Object: Lemon

B. Taking out paste out of tooth paste.

Ans: Agent: Hand, Object:  Toothpaste

C. Load suspended to spring which on other side is fixed to wall

Ans: Agent: Load, Object: Spring

D. Athlete taking high jumps to clear barr at certain height

Ans: Agent: Athele , Object: Earth

Q.6 A black smith hammers hot piece of iron to make tools. How does the force of hammering affect piece of Iron.

Ans: The force applied by blacksmith changes the shape of Iron.

Q.7  An inflated balloon is pressed against the wall after rubbed with piece of cloth. What force is responsible for attraction between wall and balloon?

Ans: When balloon is rubbed with piece of cloth, It gets charged. Thus gets attracted to the wall.
Electostatic force is responsible for attraction between the wall and balloon.

Q.8 Name the forces acting on a plastic bucket containing water held above ground level in your hand. Discuss why the forces acting on the bucket do not bring a change in its state of motion?

Ans:  The force acting on bucket is gravitational force.
It does not bring change in state of motion because muscular force of persom holding bucket is equall and opposite to it.

Q.9  A rocket has been fired upwards to launch a satellite in its orbit. Name the two forces acting on the rocket immediately after leaving the launching Pad.

Ans: The two forces that act on the rocket are:

1. Gravitation due to earth

2. Upward thrust

Q.10: When we press the bulb of dropper with its nozzle kept in water, air in the dropper is seen to escape in the form of bubbles. Once we release the pressure on the bulb, water gets filled in the dropper. The rise of water in the dropper is due to:

Ans:   D. Atmospheric Pressure
