It is the protruding voice box in boys. It occurs during puberty.
b. Secondary sexual characters:
These are the distinguishing features that appear in boys and girls during puberty. They include change in voice, development of breast, broadening of shoulders, broadening of waist, growth of hair.
c. Sex determination in unborn babies:
Sex in unborn babies is determined by pair of sex chromosomes. In humans there are 23 pairs of chromosomes in which one pair is sex chromosome. Males have XY and Females have XX sex chromosomes.
If sperm containing X chromosomes of male fertilizes egg of female, the baby will have XX chromosomes and will be girl.
If sperm containing Y chromosome of male fertilizes egg of female, the baby will have XY chromosomes and will be boy.
